The 250 class in motocross doesn’t forgive the slightest weakness. That’s why we completely redesigned the RM-Z250 to achieve a higher level of performance in “Acceleration, Turning, and Braking” necessary to win in this ultra-competitive arena.
Intensive work by our engineers has once again made the RM-Z250 the leader out of the gate, with the engine featuring increased power across the board and class-leading electronics including WiFi tuning capability, a lighter frame and swingarm plus updated KYB suspension for even better handling, modern styling design, and a laundry list of other updates to make it the most potent motocross bike in its class.
“For the right rider and Suzuki enthusiast, the RM-Z250 is a great bike. Nothing beats the price and inner excitement when passing other riders on the 250F class underdog.” dirtrider.com
Fitted with a center-port cylinder head, the fuel-injected 249cm³ liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve, DOHC engine remains proven and reliable.
The engine delivers strong peak power and superb throttle response through the entire rev range.
Centre-port cylinder head design contributes to increased output and throttle response by approximately 5%.
The fuel injection system now features two injectors. Instead of using a single injector that can compromise low-end fuelling in order to supply enough fuel for top-end power, the primary injector delivers precise low-rpm fuelling while a secondary injector at higher rpm provides the extra fuel needed.
When activated, this standard-equipment system lets you shift up or down without operating the clutch lever while in motion. Features include clean upshifts with smooth acceleration and downshifts that are also quick and easy, thanks in part to automatic blipping and engine braking working together. The gear shift linkage system load rate is optimised to provide a solid, satisfying click with each shift that assures you the gearbox has responded immediately to your action.
Increased by 17% over the previous model and promotes the effective mixing of air and fuel, resulting in improved throttle response.
Standard with every new MY24 RM-Z250 purchased, the plug and play MX Tuner 2.0 allows users to alter the engine mapping via the intuitive smartphone WiGET app, available on iOS and Android devices.
The WiGET app comes with several pre-installed factory settings for easy tuning for different riding styles and track conditions. For the more experienced tuner, the possibilities are practically endless with the ability to create fully customised maps with specific settings for 36 points of ignition timing and 36 points of fuel injection delivery.
All the power in the world won’t do any good if you can’t transfer it to the ground, and Suzuki’s innovative electronics work transparently with the rider for maximum acceleration on any type of dirt or track conditions. Suzuki’s third-generation traction management system, with a significantly updated S-HAC (Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control) system and more powerful ECM (engine control module).
Suzuki’s RM-Z250 goes another step further with the fourth-generation system featuring updated ECU software. The RM-Z250’s S-HAC system monitors throttle position and gear position in order to adjust ignition timing for maximum acceleration through the three critical stages of a motocross start: releasing the clutch, getting drive over the starting gate, and then powering down the start straight.
A-mode: intended for hardpack surfaces where controlling wheelspin is paramount.
B-mode: for normal dirt conditions with good traction.
OFF: For normal unassisted take-offs.
The 49mm KYB coil spring fork replaces the previous model’s PSF2 air fork. Featuring a unique design that provides a progressive damping setup offering excellent compliance over small bumps while firming up deeper into the stroke to handle bigger hits such as harsh jump landings. Upper and lower triple clamp design has been optimised for rigidity while cutting 60 grams.
Out back, the rear suspension linkage ratio has been changed to firm up short stroke movement while optimising longer suspension action for better traction, and is 14.9 grams lighter than previous. The fully adjustable KYB rear shock has an improved range of adjustment with both high and low speed compression and rebound damping. The rear spring is constructed using thinner but stronger wire (feedback from MotoGP technology) and is 370 grams lighter than before.
